Liver Cancer, like every cancer, is more treatable if diagnosed early. But it’s not easy, because it typically remains asymptomatic in the early stages.

LiverRight providers diagnose Liver Cancer in adults, of which there are two types–
1. Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC): The most common primary liver cancer, originating in hepatocytes (main liver cells).
2. Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer): Develops in the small bile ducts within the liver, accounting for 10–20% of liver cancers.
For HCC, we have two (2) options if our providers suspect HCC: A Liver MRI, which is option #1. If a patient can’t — or won’t — move to a Liver MRI, we offer HelioLiver from Helio Genomics. And we utilize HelioLiver for ongoing HCC surveillance, too.
HelioLiver LDT is a groundbreaking blood test that has shown to be 4x more effective* than the current standard (ultrasound) at detecting Stage I hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common type of liver cancer.
*As shown in the prospective CLiMB trial looking at high risk cirrhotic patients.
HelioLiver is a ctDNA (circulating tumor DNA) test, which refers to small fragments of DNA that are shed by tumor cells (in this case, from the liver) into the bloodstream as they die or break down. These fragments carry the same genetic mutations and biochemical markers as the original tumor, allowing doctors to detect or monitor cancer through a simple blood draw—often called a liquid biopsy.
