Liver Education Advocates (formerly NASH kNOWledge) s a formidable organization that has faithfully/methodically educated America on Fatty Liver Disease.
From their website–
“We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that was established to increase public awareness of Fatty Liver Disease, which is quickly becoming a public health crisis. Based in the Pittsburgh area, we partner with other organizations across the country that have similar goals and we also speak at events and conferences throughout the country.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney diseases estimates that 100 million Americans have fatty liver and that 20-25% of those have fatty liver disease. There are typically no symptoms associated with its onset, which is why it’s known as a silent epidemic and most people who have fatty liver disease don’t know it. As an unidentified person on the internet described it, ‘you’re not sick, then one day you are.'”
Their 5th annual fundraising event is March 2, 2025 in Pittsburgh; our Lynn Poulos will be there.
The Villiotti family and team are doing stellar work to drive better awareness & outcomes in Liver Disease across all 50 states.
