The Hepatitis B Foundation, Baruch S. Blumberg Institute and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center are three distinct nonprofit organizations working in a shared ecosystem to foster scientific innovation to create a world free of hepatitis B and liver cancer.
The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center is the home for the Hepatitis B Foundation and the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, fostering a collaborative environment for early-stage life science companies to thrive and contribute to the mission of curing Hepatitis B and Liver Cancer. The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute is a research organization dedicated to finding a cure for hepatitis B and liver cancer.
FOCUS AREA: Hepatitis B is the most common serious liver infection in the world. It is caused by the hepatitis B virus that attacks and injures the liver. Two billion people (or 1 in 3) have been infected and about 300 million people are living with a chronic hepatitis B infection. Each year up to 1 million people die from hepatitis B despite the fact that it is preventable and treatable.
